1. Payment Gateways

1.1 What is a Payment Gateway?

A Payment Gateway is a service that facilitates online transactions, which allows your donors to donate and your Organization to receive the donations.

It is capable of capturing the donor's payment method information (card, SEPA, etc...) and transmitting it to the issuing entities (banks or others) in a secure way.

The Payment Gateway is also responsible for sharing information with StockCrowd about the acceptance or rejection of the payment.

Examples of the most common payment gateways are Stripe, Redsys, Paypal, Ayden and many others.

1.2 Payment gateways available on StockCrowd

2. Payment Methods

2.1 What is a payment method?

A Payment Method is the way in which donors pay for their donations. Payment methods include, among others, credit or debit cards, bank debits (SEPA), Apple Pay and Google Pay, Bizum, offline transfers, checks, etc.

Each Payment Gateway allows to donate through different payment methods, e.g. Stripe allows to donate with cards or with a direct debit (SEPA Direct Debit), Redsys with cards or with Bizum.

2.2 Payment methods allowed in the Payment Gateways available in StockCrowd

In the following table, we indicate the payment methods that your donors will be able to use in the Payment Gateways available in StockCrowd.

2.3 How Offline Payment Methods Work

Note that there are payment methods that are not associated with a Payment Gateway and are those methods that do not process online payments.

Among them, there are:

2.3.1 How Offline Transfers and Checks Work

Offline Transfers and Checks are offline payment methods, whose operations are performed manually by the donor and are not processed through StockCrowd.

Examples:

  • A donor hands over a check during an event.

  • A donor makes a transfer to the Organization's bank account directly from his account.

πŸ“Œ Since these transactions are not processed through a StockCrowd Payment Gateway, they will not be counted and will not add to your Campaigns' collected amounts.

However, if your Plan allows it, you will be able to add them as explained in this article.

2.3.2. How CRM Transactions Work

CRM Transactions is an offline Payment Method.

In this article, we explain how to activate CRM Transactions.

Once activated, StockCrowd will collect the donor's bank details so that your Organization, manually or through a CRM, can proceed with the transfer of receipts.

πŸ“Œ Since these transactions are not processed through a StockCrowd Payment Gateway, they will not be counted and will not add to your Campaigns' collected amounts.

However, if your Plan allows it, you will be able to add them as explained in this article.

3. Configure a Payment Gateway

To set up a Payment Gateway simply follow the steps below, according to the Plan you have contracted.

3.1. Configure a Payment Gateway for the Premium Plan.

1. Go to Campaign > Settings > Payment Gateways and click on the box corresponding to the gateway you want to configure.

πŸ“Œ Please note that the fields to fill in will be different depending on the Payment Gateway.

5. FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is StockCrowd Pay?

StockCrowd Pay is the Payment Gateway that we offer to organisations in the Light, Scale and Grow plans, it provides the most modern means of payment without the need to go through a complex registration process.

StockCrowd PAY is built on Stripe's infrastructure, it enables credit and debit cards, Google Pay, Apple Pay, SEPA debits and online transfers, so that the proceeds go directly to your bank.

You can accept multiple currencies, have access to your own control panel and have donations go directly to your bank, and StockCrowdPay allows you to give donors the option to cover StockCrowd's fees. You can learn more in this article.

  • Why can't I see a donation received with Stripe or StockCrowd Pay reflected in my bank account?

Please note that Stripe, or StockCrowd Pay, takes a few days to transfer donations to your bank account.

This delay allows Stripe, or StockCrowd Pay, to mitigate some of the risks inherent in providing credit services. This article indicates how often your funds are transferred.

  • Can I receive donations via direct debits with Stripe or StockCrowd Pay?

You can receive donations through direct debits with Stripe, or StockCrowd Pay, by selecting Allowed in the SEPA direct debit payments dropdown in the Stripe or StockCrowd Pay settings:

This is a very convenient way to manage recurring membership donations since StockCrowd takes care of the bank wire transfers without the need for remittance files.

You can even check if the receipt is returned or processed correctly, and when the donation is processed correctly, you can send the corresponding thank you emails and tax certificates to the donors.

StockCrowd has the most common direct debits pre-integrated into Stripe or StockCrowd Pay:

    • SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area) Debit: for European donor banks.

    • Bacs Direct Debit: for UK donor banks

    • ACH (Automated Clearing House): for US donor banks.

Each of them requires different types of data to be requested from the donor and everything is fully pre-integrated in StockCrowd so that you can manage recurring donors from different parts of the world in the same way.

  • Where can I make test payments to set up Redsys?

Once you request a virtual POS from Redsys, your bank will provide you with keys to configure Redsys and test cards to simulate a successful payment and a failed payment.

To simulate these payments you will need to access our Sandbox test environment. If you do not have access to it, please contact our support team by sending an email to [email protected].

  • I am using a Redsys virtual POS on another platform, can I use it as a Payment Gateway in StockCrowd?

It is important to know that if you already have a Redsys gateway in use outside of StockCrowd, its keys cannot be used on different domains, so you will have to request a new POS for your StockCrowd campaigns.

  • I have set up Redsys as a Payment Gateway but my donors are not able to make recurring donations: what can I do?

In order to receive recurring donations you must ask the issuing bank of the Redsys virtual POS to activate the option to process recurring payments.

  • Can I receive donations via Direct Debit with Redsys?

Redsys does not allow you to process payments through direct debits. If you wish, you can use CRM Transactions and pass the receipts manually or through your CRM.

  • Can I receive donations through Bizum?

Yes, you can receive donations through Bizum if you use a Redsys virtual POS.

You will need to ask the bank issuing the POS to activate Bizum as a payment method and follow the steps indicated in this article to set it up in StockCrowd.

  • Can I use a Payment Gateway that is not available in StockCrowd?

Although we have several pre-integrated Payment Gateways that enable our customers the most common and the most modern Payment Methods, it may be that the Payment Gateway you use is not in our system.

If you miss any of them, please write us at [email protected] and we will do our best to analyze it and see if we can activate it.
