Redsys inSite: what it is, what benefits it offers and how to activate it

What Redsys inSite is, what benefits it offers over the standard redirect payment, and how to activate it with our Support team, your bank and in StockCrowd.

Written by Maria Teresa Pinero

Redsys inSite is a Redsys payment method that lets the donor complete the payment directly inside your StockCrowd campaign, without being redirected to an external page of the bank.

What Redsys inSite is

In a standard Redsys setup, when the user reaches the payment step they are redirected to the Redsys environment or to their bank to enter their card details. Once the process is complete, they return to the campaign. With Redsys inSite, in contrast, the payment is integrated into the campaign page itself.

The Redsys inSite payment form opens inside the campaign, so the donor enters their card details there without going through any external screen.

The benefits Redsys inSite offers

The benefits of Redsys inSite all come from keeping the donor inside your campaign throughout the payment. These are the four main ones:

A more direct payment experience

With Redsys inSite the donor can enter their card details without leaving the campaign. This reduces the page changes during the donation process and keeps the experience more continuous, from the moment the user starts donating until they complete the payment.

Less friction at the payment step

Every extra step during a donation can become a possible drop-off point. By keeping the payment process inside the campaign itself, inSite lets you offer a simpler, smoother experience, especially on mobile devices. Reducing this friction can help improve the conversion of the people who reach the payment step.

An experience more integrated with your campaign

Instead of showing the donor an external screen from the bank, with inSite the payment process stays inside the campaign environment. This keeps the visual experience more consistent with the page and with your organisation's identity.

Better continuity when measuring conversion

One of the most important benefits of inSite is that the user does not leave the page during the payment. This makes it easier to keep your analytics tracking continuous throughout the process and to measure more precisely what happens at the last step of the donation. For example, if you are running acquisition campaigns, you will be able to analyse better how many users reach the form, how many start the payment process and how many end up completing the donation.

Which plans can use Redsys inSite?

Redsys inSite can be activated on every StockCrowd plan that has Redsys as a payment gateway. It is an additional payment feature, so activating it has an extra cost of €30/month regardless of the plan you have. If you want to activate inSite, write to our Support team ([email protected]) and we will tell you about the terms.

How to activate Redsys inSite

Before you start: Redsys inSite is an additional payment feature costing €30/month on any StockCrowd plan, so you need to arrange it with our Support team ([email protected]), who will tell you about the terms and guide you through the process.

The activation itself has three steps: your bank enables inSite for the domains you are going to receive donations from, you check that the domain is authorised, and you switch the option on inside StockCrowd. The order matters: if you activate inSite in StockCrowd before your bank has authorised the corresponding domain, the payment will not work properly.

❗Important: the exact procedure to activate Redsys inSite can vary slightly depending on the bank you have your Redsys Virtual POS with. The steps explained here are a general guide, and we recommend you always confirm the procedure with your bank.

1. Ask your bank to activate inSite

The first step of activating Redsys inSite is to ask your bank for it. For security and fraud prevention reasons, Redsys needs to know in advance the domains that inSite payments will be processed from, and StockCrowd does not make this setting directly. You need to get in touch with the bank you have your Virtual POS with and ask them to enable Redsys inSite for your terminal, telling them the domain or domains the donations will be made from, for example donaciones.tuorganizacion.org. Bear in mind that:

  • You can register several domains: if you have different campaigns running on different domains, you can ask for all of them to be added.

  • The inSite domain does not have to be your TPV's main one: the domain you use for inSite does not have to match the main domain you declared when you first arranged your Virtual POS, and you can add new domains for inSite later on without having to register a new terminal.

2. Check that the domain is authorised

When your bank confirms that it has made the inSite configuration, you can check it from your Redsys Virtual POS Administration Portal. Inside the terminal settings you will find the list of Dominios inSite permitidos, where your campaign's domain should appear.

This section of the Administration Portal is for information only: your bank adds or changes those domains, not StockCrowd and not you.

3. Activate inSite in StockCrowd

Once the bank has confirmed that the domain is authorised, you can activate inSite in your campaign. Go to Settings → Payment gateways → Redsys and switch on the option "By activating this option, payment will be processed using RedSys' insite payment method".

From that moment on, card payments will be processed through inSite instead of using the standard redirect to Redsys.

❓Frequently asked questions

Does Redsys inSite work with regular donations?

Regular donations can work with Redsys inSite, as long as your Redsys terminal is also configured to process recurring payments. You have to request this configuration from your bank in advance, so if you want to use Redsys inSite and regular donations together we recommend you confirm with your bank that both features are enabled on the same terminal.

Does Redsys inSite work with Bizum?

Payments made with Bizum are not processed through Redsys inSite, because they need to open an external page for the user to complete the operation. However, once the Bizum payment is complete the user returns automatically to the StockCrowd campaign, so the process still keeps the conversion tracking continuous when the payment finishes.

How much does Redsys inSite cost?

Redsys inSite is an additional payment feature for all StockCrowd plans, and activating it has an extra cost of €30/month. If you want to activate it on your account, write to our Support team ([email protected]) and we will help you with the process.

Why might it be worth activating Redsys inSite?

If you already use Redsys with a redirect, inSite lets you take the donation experience one step further: fewer page changes, less friction and a more integrated payment experience. Especially in acquisition campaigns where you invest in generating traffic, small improvements at the last step of the process can translate into more completed donations without having to increase visits to the campaign.

How is Redsys inSite different from the standard Redsys payment?

The difference between Redsys inSite and the standard Redsys payment is where the donor enters their card details. In a standard Redsys setup, the donor is redirected to the Redsys environment or to their bank to pay and then returns to the campaign. With Redsys inSite the payment is integrated into the campaign page itself, so the donor never leaves it.

Which StockCrowd plans can use Redsys inSite?

Redsys inSite can be activated on every StockCrowd plan that has Redsys as a payment gateway. It is an additional payment feature, so activating it has an extra cost regardless of the plan you have.

Who configures the inSite domains?

Your bank configures the inSite domains in your Redsys Virtual POS, not StockCrowd. You have to ask your bank to enable Redsys inSite for your terminal, telling them the domain or domains you are going to receive donations from. You can check which ones are registered in the list of Dominios inSite permitidos in your Virtual POS Administration Portal, which is a section for information only.

What happens if I activate inSite in StockCrowd before my bank does?

If you activate the inSite option in StockCrowd before your bank has authorised the corresponding domain, the payment will not work properly. That is why the order has to be respected: first your bank enables inSite for your domains and, once that is confirmed, you switch on the option in Settings → Payment gateways → Redsys.
