Step-by-Step Guide on How to Set Up Custom Fields
StockCrowd's Donation Box is highly customisable and you can easily add custom fields to collect the necessary information from your donors.
In this article, we will find the steps and different options for configuring these extra fields.
1. Donation Box Set Up
Firstly, you need to access the campaign in which you want to add the Custom Fields.
This can be added in any type of campaign, within the main menu, you must go to the Settings > Donation Box.
Then, you need to access the section "Data".
At the bottom of the Data tab, in a light blue box, there is an option to create a new field.
2. Custom Fields Set Up
After clicking on the Create field button a pop-up window will appear for you to configure your new field.
2.1. Description
Name your new field, this is what the donor will see.
2.2. Alias (optional)
Add a code to the field, this can be anything you'd like to identify the field. It will be visible within your StockCrowd Account only.
2.3. Section
Select whether the field will be part of the Simple or Extended Data:
Simple Data. It collects the name, surname, and email of the donor. By default, this is the default field in every form.
Extended Data. In this field will be collected all the data of the Simple Data field will be added: address, identity number, and phone number.
This last one will be optional unless we select it as mandatory.
2.4. Type
Select the data format the new field should have:
Text. Add a free text box
List. Add a drop-down list with different values for the user to choose from.
Manually adding Drop Down options
In the case that you only have a few options to add, we can add them manually by clicking on the plus (+) button next to Associated values.
A pop-up will appear for you to then add the descriptions of the drop-down options which the users will see.
You can also choose to add an internal ID for your reports.
Remember to click save on the main page for all the options to be saved.
Adding a list of dropdown options from a file
In the case that you have a long list of values to add you can upload these in a TXT or CSV file format by clicking on the icon below:
Linked List
Linked lists allow us to show different options in a list based on the option selected in another.
Let's take an example of an organisation organising races in 2 different cities but with different options for race lengths and dates.
First, let's add our list of cities:
Then create a second list of the different races which people can register for:
Click Save.
To link the fields click on the link icon for the first field.
Then select the list to which you would like to link this field:
You will then find link icons next to each of the list options.
Click on the link button and select the options which should be associated with this value and save.
Do this with each of your options and save the changes and preview your form.
Conditional Fields
We can create fields of our form that are conditional on the previous answer.
To start create a custom field with a checkbox or a list of drop-down options.
Then create the field which will show depending on the answer to the previous question. To make it conditional, be sure to tick the box "It will be a conditional field".
Save this information and then save the full data tab for the Donation Box configuration.
Once saved, click on the edit button for the Conditional Field:
Select the field that this second field depends on and select the value which should be selected for the option to appear.
❗️Be sure to click the plus button to add this definition, before clicking close.
Save again the data tab and preview your form to check everything is working as you would like.
Date. The field will display a date format within the field.
Email. Allows you to ask for an additional email beyond the one requested by default in the Simple Data.
Description. Add a free text box allowing a response of approx. 350 characters
True or false. Add a click box to be selected.
Numeric. You can add a section where only numbers are allowed, you can also add a number limit within the configuration.
2.5. Width
This allows us to configure the new field in the same size as the rest of the form's boxes (100%), half their width (50%), or a third of their width (25%).
These different size settings allow us to combine two custom fields in the same line:
2.6. Visibility
Select if the field is for individuals, companies, or both.
2.7. Translations
You can add translations for each Custom Field by clicking on the little flag icon.
