2.1. Stop Sync

In this article, we will explain how to connect your Strava account to your Peer-to-Peer Fundraising Page so you can start counting your distances!

What is Strava?

Strava is the leading, most well-known, fitness app with over 100 million people recording fitness activities, building communities and taking part in challenges.

With so many non-profits using sporting or fitness-related challenges as a way to engage their supporters in Peer-to-Peer style fundraising, our integration with Strava allows fundraisers to showcase their efforts by syncing their Strava updates automatically to their fundraising.

❗️Strava can only be added by Fundraisers who create Individual Fundraising Pages.

In order to get started, first and foremost, you will need a Strava account. In case you don't have it, you will need to follow the following steps:

1. Set Up Strava on your Fundraising Page

👉 Strava is connected at a Fundraising Page level.

Therefore, if you have more than one page you can connect Strava to any or all of them.

You can choose different Strava settings for each page if you wish.

In order to connect StockCrowd to your Strava account, you must go through the following steps:

  1. Access to your Dashboard: Navigate to your Dashboard and click on the Strava icon on the Fundraising Page of your choice.

  2. Authorise the integration: Once you have clicked there, a pop-up window will appear in order for you to authorise your Organisation to connect to the app.

By authorising your account to connect with Strava, you are allowing:

    • StockCrowd views the data about your public profile (which is required)

    • And, view data about the activities you are going to upload.

  3. Access to Strava: Once the integration is authorised, you will directly be redirected to Strava's main page, where you will need to Log In, or, in case you don't have an account, Sign Up.

    a) Log In to Strava: You will be able to Log In via Facebook, Google, Apple, or email.

Once you add your account information, you will be redirected again to your Fundraising Dashboard.

    b) Sign Up in Strava: In case you don't have a Strava account, you'll need to click on the "Sign-Up" button placed in the top right corner of the main page.

After doing so, you'll be redirected to Strava's Sign Up page, where you can join via Facebook, Google, Apple or email.

  4. Configure your Settings: After completing signing up or logging in, you will be redirected to your Fundraising Dashboard.

A pop-up window will appear where you are going to see all the activity types that you can choose for your Fundraising Page.

Here, you are going to be able to choose between 15+ activities that are supported by Strava. It is possible to select as many as you like since it depends mostly on your own goal in the campaign.

After selecting the activities you wanted to do, you have to scroll down and select your Display Preferences.

You are going to be able to toggle on or off the following preferences that will appear whenever you're adding a blog entry:

    • Distance: Here you will be able to add how far you have travelled.

    • Time: You can display how long was your activity.

    • Elevation: Show the elevation of your activity.

    • Photos: You can include pictures that show your activity.

    • Map and route: Show your distance travelled in an activity map.

  5. Start tracking your activity: After successfully connecting the app, the Strava button will turn orange.

Now your Fundraising Page will be ready to start tracking your activity 🚀

2. How to edit Strava's Settings

Once Strava is connected, it is possible to edit the settings you previously added. You can do it in 2 ways:

a) From Strava's CTA: In your selected campaign, click on the Strava button, which will lead you directly to the settings

b) From the Blog entry icon: Choose a Fundraising Page, select the second icon and it will take you to all your blog entries.

After that, you'll have to click on "Manage Strava settings", and it will take you to the Activities and Display Preferences menu.

Once you are in the Settings section, you will be able to select and deselect all the activities and display preferences you find suitable.

Click "Save" and they will update within the Fundraising Page.

📌 Please, keep in mind that if you edit your display preferences in the future, these will not be automatically updated on your blog posts.

For example, if you have photos enabled but later on you deactivate the settings, you will have to manually delete the pictures from your blog.

2.1. Stop Sync

In case you wanted to stop the data synchronisation between the apps, you could easily do so by accessing its Settings and clicking on "Stop sharing from Strava".

Once clicked, a pop-up window will appear where you will be asked if you want to keep moving forward with the action. Select "Yes, pause for now."

And done! The data will stop syncing. In case you want to sync them back, all you have to do is follow these steps.

2.2. Revoke Access from Strava

To disconnect Strava altogether, you must revoke access from your Strava Account settings.

To do so, you need to access your Strava dashboard and click on your Profile Picture placed in the top right corner, and select "Settings".

After accessing Strava's Settings, you'll have to go to "My Apps" and click on "Revoke Access".

If Strava is disconnected from your StockCrowd Fundraising Page, it will stop sharing across all fundraising pages it’s been connected to.

However, Strava's data will not be removed from your Fundraising Pages. You must remove the data manually if you wish to delete it.

3. Your Blog entry with Strava

When you create a blog post, you will be able to see in the top part that it is syncing with Strava.

Here you are going to see all the Display Preferences previously chosen, available to be published with all the details on your Page!

Once you have added all the information, it will look as follows:

If you record more than one activity in your blog, donors will be able to filter the posts by activity type.
