How to validate event tickets with the Lector QR Stockcrowd app

How to install Lector QR Stockcrowd on an Android phone with Expo Go, enter your event's access code and validate your attendees' tickets on the day of the event.

Written by Maria Teresa Pinero

To control access to an event with StockCrowd Event Ticketing, you validate your attendees' tickets with the Lector QR Stockcrowd app: an Android phone scans the QR code on each ticket and marks it as validated. This article explains how to install the reader with the Expo Go app, how to set up your event's access code and how to validate tickets on the day of the event.

❗Important: the Expo Go app has changed its authentication process on iOS devices. The way it works now, allowing that authentication could compromise data security, so we do not allow it: we would rather protect your data and your attendees' data. As a result, scanning the QR codes sent from our platform is no longer available on iOS. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Scanning the QR codes sent from our platform is currently only available on Android devices.

Before you start

To validate an event's tickets with Lector QR Stockcrowd, you need:

  • An Android device with a camera and an internet connection.

  • Event Ticketing set up in your campaign, with the access code already generated in the Mobile App Configuration tab. If you don't have it yet, follow Step 4 of Event Ticketing: Ticket Sales and Access Control.

Each event has its own access code: it tells the reader which event the tickets you are going to validate belong to.

Install Lector QR Stockcrowd on your phone

You install Lector QR Stockcrowd from the Expo Go app, on your Android device:

1. Download and install the Expo Go app from Google Play.

2. Open Expo Go and tap Scan QR on its home screen:

3. Scan the Lector QR Stockcrowd QR code. You will find it in the Mobile App Configuration tab of your campaign's Event Ticketing:

4. Wait for Expo Go to load Lector QR Stockcrowd. The first load may take a little while.

5. When the installation finishes, tap Lector QR Stockcrowd in the Expo Go history (Recent history) to open the reader. From now on, you will always find it there.

Enter your event's access code

The first time you open Lector QR Stockcrowd, it asks for the event's access code. Enter it and tap Guardar (Save). You will find the access code in the Mobile App Configuration tab of your campaign's Event Ticketing.

Each event has a different access code. Check that you are using the right event's code before you start validating tickets.

Validate your attendees' tickets

Once the access code is saved, you can validate the event's tickets with Lector QR Stockcrowd:

  1. In Home, tap Escanear QR (Scan QR) to turn on the camera.

  2. Scan the QR code on the attendee's ticket. The ticket details appear: event, session, buyer and ticket details (code, area, price group and price).

  3. If the details are correct, tap Validar Ticket (Validate Ticket) to validate the ticket.

Validate each ticket only once. If you scan a ticket that has already been validated, Lector QR Stockcrowd shows TICKET VALIDADO (ticket validated) with the date and time it was validated, and does not let you validate it again.

Check validated and pending tickets

Lector QR Stockcrowd shows you which of the event's tickets have already been validated and which have not. In the Confirmados (Confirmed) section, tap the tab:

  • Confirmados (Confirmed), to see the tickets already validated.

  • Pendientes (Pending), to see the tickets still to be validated.

To find a specific ticket, type the attendee's name or the ticket code in the Buscar por nombre o ticket (Search by name or ticket) search box. Tap Actualizar lista (Refresh list) to refresh the list of tickets.

Switch to another event

Lector QR Stockcrowd validates tickets for one event at a time: the event whose access code you have saved. To validate tickets for another event:

  1. Go back to Home and tap Cambiar código de acceso (Change access code).

  2. Enter the new event's access code and tap Guardar (Save).

❓Frequently asked questions

Can I validate tickets with an iPhone?

You cannot validate tickets with an iPhone or any other iOS device: the Expo Go app has changed its authentication process on iOS and, the way it works now, allowing it could compromise data security, so we do not allow it. To control access to your event, you need an Android device.

Where do I find the reader's QR code and the event access code?

The QR code to install Lector QR Stockcrowd and the event access code are in the Mobile App Configuration tab of your campaign's Event Ticketing. The access code appears once it has been generated: how to do this is explained in Step 4 of Event Ticketing: Ticket Sales and Access Control.

Do I have to install the reader every time I use it?

You don't need to install Lector QR Stockcrowd every time: after the first installation, you open it by tapping Lector QR Stockcrowd in the Expo Go history.

How do I validate tickets for another event?

To validate tickets for another event, change the access code in Lector QR Stockcrowd: in Home, tap Cambiar código de acceso (Change access code), enter the new event's code and tap Guardar (Save). Each event has its own access code.

What happens if I scan a ticket that has already been validated?

If you scan a ticket that has already been validated, Lector QR Stockcrowd shows TICKET VALIDADO (ticket validated) with the date and time of validation, and does not let you validate it again. This way, each ticket only gives access once.

How do I know which tickets are still to be validated?

The tickets still to be validated are in the Pendientes (Pending) tab of the Confirmados (Confirmed) section of Lector QR Stockcrowd. The Confirmados (Confirmed) tab shows the ones that have already been validated.
